Brisbane, Australia-based Ambient Den was formed during lockdown and consists of multi-instrumentalist Ben Craven, keyboardist\/pianist\/vocalist Tim Bennetts, and drummer Dean Povey.
The band released their debut album “Ambient Den” on July 28, 2025, via Bad Dog Promotions. It was released as a 6-track LP, a CD, and a digital download, both of which included an additional 4 tracks from the singles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CD album opens with “Future History Part 1,” in which Ambient Den plays a short, melodic instrumental piece at a moderate tempo. This is followed by “For All Mankind,” a brilliant melodic song with a medium tempo and an infectious, danceable rhythm where sitting still is not an option, and “Provenance,” a delightful instrumental with a medium tempo, elements of Kitaro’s music, and an infectious rhythm.
Then comes “Earthrise”, a wonderfully melodic song with a medium tempo and a rhythm that encourages dancing, and the just over 16 minutes long “Terraforming”, a fantastic progressive melodic rock number that swings, contains light elements of Pink Floyd’s music and has a recurring rhythm, and “Future History Part 2”, a catchy song with funk and dance elements, played at a medium tempo and has an infectious rhythm that evokes movement.
In the single edition of “For All Mankind,” Ambient Den gives me the shortened version of this song, which swings and I think could be a hit. In “Earthrise,” the band gives me another fantastic short version of this song. In “Terraforming,” I get a beautiful rendition of this song, which, while not comparable to the original long song, is still perfectly constructed and swings like a train. And in “Future History Part 2,” I hear the band again deliver a swinging mix of funk and dance elements that belongs in a chart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With their debut album, “Ambient Den,” Ambient Den has delivered an excellent progressive melodic album that I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. I highly recommend it to fans of this genre. Ambient Den uit Brisbane, Australi\u00eb werd tijdens de lockdown opgericht en bestaat uit: multi-instrumentalist Ben Craven, keyboards speler \/ pianist \/ zanger Tim Bennetts en drummer Dean Povey.

Het CD album start met “Future History Part 1” waarin Ambient Den een kort instrumentaal stukje melodische muziek met een niet al te hoog tempo speelt, dat gevolgd wordt door “For All Mankind”, een schitterende melodische song met een gemiddeld tempo en een aanstekelijk dansbaar ritme, waarbij stil zitten niet aan de orde is en “Provenance”, een verrukkelijk instrumentaal nummer met een gemiddeld tempo, elementen van de muziek van Kitaro en een aanstekelijk ritme.
Dan volgen “Earthrise”, een heerlijke melodische song met een gemiddeld tempo en een ritme dat tot dansen aanzet en het iets meer dan 16 minuten durende “Terraforming”, een fantastisch progressief melodisch rock nummer, dat swingt, lichte elementen van de muziek van Pink Floyd herbergt en een terugkerend ritme bevat en “Future History Part 2”, een lekker in het gehoor klinkend nummer met funk en dance elementen dat in een gemiddeld tempo gespeeld wordt en een aanstekelijk ritme heeft, dat beweging oproept.
In de single editie van “For All Mankind” zet Ambient Den me de verkorte versie van dit nummer voor, dat swingt en volgens mij een hit kunnen zijn, in “Earthrise” schotelt de band me opnieuw een geweldige korte versie van dit nummer voor, in “Terraforming” krijg ik een prachtige uitvoering van dit nummer te horen, dat weliswaar niet te vergelijken met het originele lange nummer is, maar evengoed perfect in elkaar steekt en swingt als een trein en in “Future History Part 2” hoor ik de band weer een swingende mix van funk en dance elementen ten gehore brengen, die in een hitparade thuis hoort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ambient Den heeft met hun debuut album “Ambient Den” een uitstekende progressieve melodische plaat afgeleverd waar ik van begin tot einde enorm van genoten heb en ik raad liefhebbers van dit genre deze schijf dan ook ten zeerste aan en wat mij betreft is de lange uitvoering van “Terraforming” hiervan de uitschieter.
