While Craven has produced several stellar solo works since then, he has on occasion teamed up with keyboardist Tim Bennetts (Seven Day Mask) on several projects, including their work on Progaustralis live, and with drummer Dean Posey from Craven\u2019s Frankenfido projects. Ambient Den represents a dedicated project for these three like-minded musicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFuture History Part 1\u201d gives the listener a brief taste of what\u2019s to come. The atmospheric keyboards by Bennetts and the clean guitar tones remind me of the interaction between David Gilmour and Richard Wright on the Pink Floyd album, \u2018Endless River\u2019. The leap into \u201cFor All Mankind\u201d is logical. Craven, who produced the album, is a master at guitar tone, blending lap steel, distorted Fender Strat leads, and his cosmic flair with Bennett\u2019s ethereal keyboard sounds. Povey\u2019s percussion is seamless and supportive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEarthrise,\u201d with its churning synth rhythms and propulsive drumming, is a suitable vehicle for Bennett\u2019s and Craven\u2019s vocals. The song is foreboding yet lyrically offers signs of home and progress for man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Future History Part 2\u201d brings the album in for a landing. The wah-wah guitar leads, ensemble vocals, and synth horn stabs paint an upbeat image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ambient Den is a well-crafted, superbly written, and excellently played slice of progressive rock that stands out among other 2025 prog-rock offerings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>https:\/\/slangofages.com\/short-tracks-best-of-2025-series-ambient-den Prog rocker Ben Craven has been a favorite of mine since his exquisite 2016 album, \u2018Last Chance to Hear\u2019.
