It’s a sweeping, emotionally resonant journey through space and psyche. Where the first track charted humanity’s urgent thrust into the cosmos, “Earthrise” pauses in awe, capturing the fragile beauty of our home planet from the cold vantage point of the Moon.

Inspired by the iconic Apollo 8 photograph, the song imagines the emotional gravity of seeing Earth hanging in the void: delicate, blue, and alive. It’s a moment of reflection amidst the vastness, blending lush instrumental textures with melodic motifs that shimmer and swirl like solar wind. In this moment, the Earth is a beacon of comfort for the traveller, a reminder of origins, of ecosystems in balance, and of everything at stake.

But as the song progresses, there’s a gentle melancholy. The Earth eventually sets, slipping below the Moon’s horizon. The moment passes, and the astronaut (a stand-in for all of us) must continue forward toward uncertainty, toward new worlds, toward survival.

“Earthrise” is an ideal track for reflective sets, sci-fi themes, or progressive programming that leans into the cinematic. As with all of Ambient Den’s work, the track balances technical finesse with emotional storytelling and will resonate with fans of Pink Floyd, Mike Oldfield or Steven Wilson. – Robin Larsen (Desert Comb Music)

Watch the official visualizer for “Earthrise (Single Edit)” via the YouTube player below:

— About Ambient Den —

Born from the uncertainty of lockdowns and the joy of spontaneous creation, Ambient Den is the new Progressive Rock project from Australian musicians Ben Craven (“Monsters From The Id,” “Great & Terrible Potions”), Tim Bennetts (Seven Day Mask, SUB INC), and Dean Povey (Frankenfido). What began as intimate jam sessions between Craven and Bennetts evolved into a full-fledged band project, built on a dynamic musical chemistry reminiscent of David Gilmour & Rick Wright or Mike Rutherford & Tony Banks.

The band’s self-titled debut album, “Ambient Den”, is a Cinematic concept record that tells the story of humanity’s search for a new home among the stars, culminating in the terraforming of a distant world. Produced by Craven, the album stays true to his signature lush arrangements and layered instrumentation, but the songwriting is a fully collaborative effort.

Inspired by the great Progressive Rock bands of the 1970s, Ambient Den embraces the spirit of musicians creating together in the same room, much like the classic era before success scattered band members across different continents. The result is an album that blends atmosphere, melody, and grand storytelling, standing apart from Craven’s solo work while retaining the cinematic, immersive qualities that fans have come to love.

With “Ambient Den” releasing 28 July, the band invites listeners to embark on an odyssey through space and sound. And for those paying attention, the name Ambient Den is more than just a phrase. It’s an anagram of “Tim,” “Ben,” and “Dean,” a reflection of the unity and spontaneity that defines the project.

Pre-Order here:

Bandcamp (CD, 24bit 96kHz digital download): https://ambientden.bandcamp.com/album/ambient-den

The Bandwagon USA (CD): https://thebandwagonusa.com/collections/ambient-den

Just For Kicks (Europe): https://www.justforkicks.de/shop/progressive/ben-craven-ambient-den

Tracklist:

Future History Part 1

For All Mankind

Provenance

Earthrise

Terraforming

Future History Part 2

For All Mankind (Single Edit) 05:44

Earthrise (Single Edit) 04:39

Terraforming (Single Edit) 04:23

Future History Part 2 (Single Edit) 04:26

Ambient Den unveil the official visualizer for “Earthrise (Single Edit)” taken from upcoming concept album ByJacopo VigezziJul 1, 2025 Following the driving propulsion of their debut single “For All Mankind,” Ambient Den returns with “Earthrise,” the second single from their self-titled concept album.
